Welcome, now go away....
With this welcome from the Ambis: http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/52701a15e4b08ad7c0d7aeac Why would people ever come back?
I would say that no one would want to come back!
@e.mccormick you are so right! I never saw that actual post before you shared the link. However, I must say I am truly embarrassed on behalf of the Ambassador team. Though the majority do work hard and love what we do. It does not cease to amaze me that some people just have a much harder time doing the right thing. As ambassadors we must understand that we are leaders. We set an example here and have been trusted to be kind to others. To be a helping hand to others. I, personally, like welcoming people via PM because I do not care for "showing off." We can not sit here practicing hypocrisy.
Here is another possible cause of their poor typing: Leaning disabilities. What if you have a learning disability that causes you to confuse the order of things as you type. So here you go, using a medium you don't like, but boldly go to ask a question. The reply? Ridicule. Just like the abuse people with learning disabilities regularly get elsewhere. More pain and another possible source of help crossed off the list.
Indeed, like dyslexia, it can be harder to type, and in school, with bullies, you can get made fun of there, and we don't want a harsh environment here at OpenStudy, almost like Cyber bullying! And, we really don't want that here. But, back to dyslexia (and other disabilities) others can have trouble reading, typing, and learning. So, with that said, we need to take the circumstances into all hands, because you never truly know who they are, whether it be age, gender, or personality!
Yes, it is quite disheartening that people do these things. I believe, well I know, this type of behavior can be prevented if we think before we type. Why would you ever want to seriously be the bully? Why would you want to break down someone else's character? Just because someone makes more grammatical errors or what ever than you? So, now, you decide you want to be little an innocent, harmless, person? @e.mccormick and @Kfins99 I think people need to realize where they are typing this stuff at. Which is in public for everyone in the world to see. Which I remember @e.mccormick posting about! Do people just not read these posts? My head is spinning....
My head is doing the same! But like some of these television shows, and channels, they always promote that the internet is open to all, no matter what you do. It takes a lot, I mean a lot, of work to delete 1 site you "cleared" off on your history. Sometimes, though, some people need to read the questions (and if they have options/choices) and the choices, because some are self explanatory, and if they really don't know, you can easily describe how it is that answer with elimination or other way. Also, you shouldn't ever joke about the question or answer, unless the Asker starts it, to me, but you shouldn't advance it too much, which I will say, I am guilty of at some point.
Right and we do all make mistakes here and there. However, it is more about coming full circle to realize it. Realize when you are wrong and apologize. This way we all can just move forward. You grow as individuals from learning from the past. I understand sometimes though that someone may have tried to have a bit of fun. Though I can say that we must know the time and place for that. We must recognize when we are pushing that boundary a little too much.
I heard a saying that said "Failure is Success" and it is true about growing up and everything else! I also agree with there must be a line that stops us from going too far. And besides, no one wants to get suspended or anything for something we really didn't mean to do, and that is formally why we get suggestions
Ya know, that certainly hasn't been the first time I've seen ambi's act somewhat sarcastic towards users (I wont list any names) but I'm glad that there are awesome and considerate ambi's such as @MathLegend I think maybe some ambi's just don't realize that the tone they use may come off harshly. And then there are some that only want the title of Ambassador for the wrong reasons. I hope this issue gets taken under control of, because there is nothing more heart-wrenching than being treated like you're stupid.
oh ambis in that...I am so very disappointed in you.
What happened to the role model role you committed to? Please keep up with it!
poor work by ambies. They have been very nice earlier, but this one was a disaster. As Preetha mentioned in her Ambie program , "You are ALWAYS helpful and friendly." such behavior was not expected even for once. Maybe sooner, when a more strict program is made, it would be better to take away ambassadorship from those ambies who are not doing their job well(or not doing at all).
:O I do my best to keep up with my job here on OS, but this post helped me see the faults in myself sometimes. For example, sometimes I tend to ignore people, which is not right. So today, I took to striking decent convos. with new people and helping them with their work. You know, its a pretty awesome feeling ^_^ you want this feeling? you know you do >.> so work hard, and get rewarded with self-fulfillment; its totally worth it!
Good point Jamie, bringing up intrinsic rewards from helping others and being nice. It really does pay off.
