OpenStudy (anonymous):

find the measure of angle x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, i don't know how to

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm asking, did you mean to say 'x' not 'a' becuase in teh attachment all there are are 'x's not a's

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no the angle A is what im trying to solve for

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh haha, i get it! first we have to solve for x, then plug x into (9x-2) to find angle A, got it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, now would you mind explaining how to solve for x please :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so this is a polygon with 7 angles, the sum of all the interior angles = 900 so write up an equation that is like this: 900 = angle a + angle b + angle c + and so on, then solve for x ^_^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

awesome! thanks man that will help alot

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lemme know what you get for x ^_^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok just a second an i will let you know

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i came up with 11= x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

bingo!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now you get how to do it, let me show you why i gave you 900

OpenStudy (anonymous):

your shape given is a 'polygon' a triangle is a type of polygon, a square is a type of polygon. essentially a polygon means any shape that makes a loop. so here is where the 900 came from: equation of polygons: sum of all interirior angles = (n-2)*180, where n is the number of angles. so, you had 7 angles, so (7-2)*180 = 900 make sense for next time? ^_^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is awesome :) ive been trying to figure out how they got that number for a long time now! thanks so much!

ur welcome!
