My daughter is 16 and in college and is in a biology class. She has to cite everything for the class, which I completely understand and has done this faithfully according to APA guidelines. She has received top scores on everything. This last lab write up the instructor asked the class to summarize the 5 graphs. She summarized the 5 graphs (her results). She opened each summary with an opening sentence, stating the method used to perform the test. For instance, the "beetle's CO2 and oxygen levels were measured for a period of 4 minutes at 10 second intervals." This information was from a published lab manual, as it was instructions on how to perform the lab. She did not do anything word for word and she did indeed summarize. However this is what she PERFORMED during the experiment, therefore is this plagarism by putting in this statement?
Why not just cite the lab manual to be safe?
