An appliance dealer sells three different models of freezers having 13.5, 15.9, and 19.1 cubic feet of storage space respectively. Suppose the probabilities of a customer purchase for the models are as follows: What is the mean size of the freezers purchased by all customers? A. 1 B. 16.17 C. 16.38 D. 40.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x 13.5 15.9 19.1 px 0.2 0.5 0.3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wouldnt it be 16.17?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

13.5+15.9+19.1=48.5/3

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

It looks like you'll need to use the given probabilities in the table, for each freezer... looks like expected value... this should give the mean 0.2*13.5 + 0.5*15.9 + 0.3*19.1
