Triangle STU is located at S (2, 1), T (2, 3), and U (0, -1). The triangle is then transformed using the rule (x-4, y+3) to form the image S'T'U'. What are the new coordinates of S', T,' and U'? Describe what characteristics you would find if the corresponding vertices were connected with line segments.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The rule of transform x-4, y+3. Can you tell me what do this mean?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

crumcake?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i was hoping for an answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk how to geometry im trying to graduate to feed my family

OpenStudy (yttrium):

Just perform the indicated rule (x-4, y+3) for every x and y coordinates in the points of the triangle. Say in S(2,1) --> It will now be (2-4,1+3) Hence S'(-2,4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

All right. For example, in triangle STU, S is (2, 1); the rule to transform it is x-4, y+3. So S' will be (2-4, 1+3)--(-2, 4). Now do you understand? Try to get the location of T' and U'.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok thats easy

OpenStudy (anonymous):

T (-2, 6) U (-4, 2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Excellent!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that the whole equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes. The points are: S'=(-2, 4); U'=(-4, 2);T'=(-2, 6).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

awesome. I have another question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Triangle OWL was rotated to create triangle O'W'L'. Describe the transformation using details and degrees. Imagine points O and O' were two points on a circle named R that had the origin as its center. Now imagine points W and W' were to also lie on a circle named T with the origin as its center. What type of circles would R and T create?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, please wait a minute.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, this problem is a kind of difficult, for I need to draw.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

still trying?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry, crumake. My computer had some problems so that I cannot tell you the answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This question is too difficult for me to answer. Sorry. I wish you will find help from others.
