Juliana has created the function \[f(x)=\frac{ 3x+2 }{ 4 }\] to represent the cost of texting on her current plan, where x represents the number of texts. Juliana discovers that using the inverse function to solve for x = 24, she can predict how many texts she can use for $24. Explain to Juliana how to accomplish this, using complete sentences.
\[24=\frac{ 3x+2 }{ 4 } solve~x\]
1. Multiply both sides by 4. 2. Subtract 2 from both sides. 3. Divide both sides by 3.
I'm awfully confused... Can you go through the problem step by step? How do I find the inverse of the original equation?
\(\bf f(x)=\color{blue}{y}=\cfrac{3\color{red}{x}+2}{4}\qquad inverse \implies \color{red}{x}=\cfrac{3\color{blue}{y}+2}{4}\) and solve it for "y"
