Write an equation of a line that passes through the points (2,3) and (2,-6). m=-6-3/2-2 =-9/0 which is undefined

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

your slope is similar to the one in previous problem.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Undefined slope lines (vertical lines) always have the equation x = something. What value is x always going to be if it goes through (2,3) and (2,-6) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-9

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Whenever slope is undefined, take what you got from\[y_1-y_2\] and set x equal to that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No. It's just x = 2. You don't have to subtract the y's. Just look at your x coordinates. They are both 2.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

yeah, kind of ... , my bad.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@agent0smith can you help me?

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

Since your slope is undefined, you have a vertical line, x = something what x value does the point pass through? It's in both the given points

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

yeah

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

So then x = 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay
