what is the next number? 4, 6, 3, 6, 12, 14, 11, ... A)6 B) 13 C)22 D) 24

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmmm...not sure, I thought it would be 14. difference between 4 and 6 is + 2 difference between 6 and 3 is - 3 difference between 3 and 6 is + 3 difference between 6 and 12 is + 6 difference between 12 and 14 is + 2 difference between 14 and 11 is -3 and I thought it would be + 3 which would make it 14.... because the pattern would be : + 2 - 3 + 3 + 6 and it would start over again at + 2 - 3 + 3....I guess it is not. I am sorry, I do not know :(

After messing a bit with the idea of @kelliegirl33 about a repetitive set of operation on the previous item in the set... (Couldn't find any better idea honestly).. I got into one that seems to work.. But honestly I really hate this solution. I truly hope someone would come and point out some simple logic that I miss, because otherwise this seems too much like those IQ tests questions, that the best I can get is a slight connection between the items (which seem pretty much random..), and the general feeling is of a deep failure...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah, it was basically an iq test question,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well.. at least one connection I could find heh...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats better then what I came up with...at least you got one of the answer choices...lol :)
