determine the center and the radius of the circle: 2x^2+2y^2=98

Directrix (directrix):

Divide each member of the equation by 2.

Directrix (directrix):

Post what you get, please.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

center= (0,0) r=7

Directrix (directrix):

That is what I got.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yay :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how about 5x^2+5y^2=0 ??

Directrix (directrix):

Divide through by 5.

Directrix (directrix):

What did you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

center = (0,0) r = 0

mathslover (mathslover):

Right...

Directrix (directrix):

Depending upon how circle is defined, the equation is not a circle. Or, it is a circle with radius 0 which if, of course, a point. Check your textbook on that.

OpenStudy (raden):

hah, radius = 0, would be a circle ??

mathslover (mathslover):

Well yes, it depends how circle is defined
