use a calculator to evaluate each trigonometric ratio, to four decimal places 1) sin pie/4 (answer 0.7071) Not sure how they got this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Make sure you calculator's MODE is set to RAD measure. so enter sin (pi/4), your calculator says 0.7071

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sin (0) = 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got 0.7068

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thats impossible

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what did you enter?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know what you did...you used 3.14 for pi enter pi using the pi symbol on your calculator.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You MUST use the pi symbol, and you CANNOT round pi to 3.14.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got 0.0137 lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Again, did you set your calculator to RAD???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

aha got it thanks :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got that in degrees but then i converted into radians and i got 0.000239238459 radians

OpenStudy (anonymous):

welcome.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do I always put it to rad when the number isn't in degrees?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes. Any expression containing pi will automatically be in RAD (radian) measure.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And use the pi symbol, not 3.14.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

pi is not 3.14, 3.14 is only an approximation for pi.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wow thanks ! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

welcome.
