OpenStudy (clairexiaoke):

You want to improve the size and definition of your pectoralis muscles. Which of the following activities would be most beneficial to help you achieve this goal? cycling jogging rock climbing yoga

OpenStudy (clairexiaoke):

@thomaster can you plzzz help me on this

OpenStudy (clairexiaoke):

@e.mccormick

OpenStudy (clairexiaoke):

@Preetha

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Do you know where muscle group with the pectorals is at?

OpenStudy (clairexiaoke):

ya, i think is rock climbing

OpenStudy (clairexiaoke):

it's at you chest

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Exactly, and yoga is not as much muscle building as stretching.

OpenStudy (clairexiaoke):

ok, can you help me on a few more questions

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Depends on the questions.

OpenStudy (clairexiaoke):

Alexander uses a variety of muscular training machines at the gym and keeps a log of his progress. Each time he exercises, he tries to do at least one more repetition than the last time he worked out. Alexander is applying the principles of overload and reversibility. specificity and progression. overload and tedium. specificity and tedium.

OpenStudy (clairexiaoke):

I'm not so sure about this one, but I think is the first one

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Hmm, well, which of those applies to what part? What I mean is, where do toy see overload in that and where do you see reversibility?

OpenStudy (clairexiaoke):

well, he's repeating and adding on to his original training. hmmmm, so it's the second one?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Again, which part do you see relating to what in the question. See, "Alexander uses a variety of muscular training machines at the gym and keeps a log of his progress." has one type in there and " Each time he exercises, he tries to do at least one more repetition than the last time he worked out. " has another. So if you absolutley know one of them, you can eliminate some possibilities.

OpenStudy (clairexiaoke):

will the first part seems like progression, so it would be the second one right?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Hmmm.... that does not seem like progrssion to me. There are two key parts to it as just a sentence: variety of muscular training machines keeps a log of his progress Well, no matter what yo do you should log progress. So, "variety of muscular training machines" Know of any where that is a critical aspect?

OpenStudy (clairexiaoke):

so its tedium

OpenStudy (clairexiaoke):

tedium and overload then?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Yah, tedium and overload.

OpenStudy (clairexiaoke):

thx!!! :)

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

The one does seem like Progression, which is a type of Overload, but the other does not sound at all like Specificity because that matches the training to a specific goal.

OpenStudy (clairexiaoke):

ok, that makes so much sense now :)

OpenStudy (clairexiaoke):

If you could perform just one exercise to improve the muscular condition of your upper body, which should you choose to obtain the most benefit? abdominal crunches pull ups calf raises squats

OpenStudy (clairexiaoke):

and for this one I'm not sure if its abdominal or pull ups, I think is abdominal

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Certainly not the last two... hmmm...

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Yah, I think the crunches too. Pullups, if I recall, are not as large a muscle group... wish I knew where my book with all the groups was LOL. had diagrams for which exercise triggered what.

OpenStudy (clairexiaoke):

ok XD

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Hmmm,... the crunch seems more abdominal and core.

OpenStudy (clairexiaoke):

ya, I agree lol

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Refrences! Always worth it.

OpenStudy (clairexiaoke):

yup!
