what is the limit of ((x^2-x-6)/(x-3)) if the limit is approaching 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, with these kind of limit problems, you want to try to cancel out the denominator (since it's going to cause you trouble, as exemplified in this problem). I don't want to give out the answer because that wouldn't help anybody--but you should be able to continue the problem without any problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

after cancelling out the denominator would i be left with x^2-2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

does anybody maybe want to give me the answer.. please im desperate

OpenStudy (anonymous):

factor the numerator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you would have (x-3)(x+2)/(x-3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you so very much RebeccaD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so would the limit be -2?
