Write a compound inequality to represent all of the numbers between -4 and 6.

hero (hero):

If x is between two numbers a and b, then a < x < b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what does that mean

hero (hero):

a < x < b is a compound inequality. Also a < b I'm giving you a more general explanation of how it works.

hero (hero):

Okay, if you understand it now, @Cweezie23, what is the correct compound inequality?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-4<x<-6

hero (hero):

I thought the two numbers were -4 and 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh yah i meant -4<x<6

hero (hero):

Okay, but just for future reference, in case you run across a situation where you have to write an inequality when x is between -6 and -4 you write -6 < x < -4 If at any time you are confused, make a number line.

hero (hero):

-6 < -4 because |dw:1383680962876:dw|
