In the compare and contrast of Grant and Lee paragraph 4 states "Back of Robert E Lee was the notion that the old aristocratic concept might somehow survive and be dominant in American life." What is the meaning of the paragraph?
When asking a question like this, it's probably good to enter the entire paragraph, so that people know more about the context. I'm unclear about it.
Cause that really isn't a paragraph, it's a sentence.
looking at the the numbers on the book I think the sentence is paragraph four. I think that's why the question ask. "What is the meaning of paragraph 4? Why does this one sentence merit an entire paragraph?"
Oh. I still need to know more about the context. You know stuff about it that I don't.
Im mostly confused when it just begins with " Back of Robert E. Lee was the notation" do you have any clue if they mean, inside his head? or on the side?
Me too. :) That seems like a lousy sentence.
Thanks for trying to help ^^
Well maybe we can still try to decipher it. It talks about the aristocracy
I guess what they mean is back of his mind or what influenced him.
I don't know a great deal about Lee, but I think he felt compelled to go with the South because that's where his roots were. I think it seemed like a matter of loyalty to him.
OH.. ok I think I get it now, it was just the wording throwing me off but I believe you are correct.
