What is the importance of the Emancipation Proclamation?

OpenStudy (zale101):

the goal of it was to end slavery which also caused the civil war

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is the Emancipation Proclamation? That's the first thing you need to find out.

OpenStudy (zale101):

because the south were in need of slaves and protested against the abolitionist

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Was it a last resort? Or was it ratified to prove to the South that the North will win? Or is there something else?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Kfins99 I know you can do this. The process is important. Do it for this question, and you can do it for any you come across.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"Was it a last resort? Or was it ratified to prove to the South that the North will win? Or is there something else?" Good question. What's your textbook say. Or maybe Wikipedia.

OpenStudy (zale101):

yeah @Kfins99

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The Emancipation Proclamation essentially had no importance at the time it was written. The only purpose it served was for Abraham Lincoln to prove he is still in power and will not recognize the confederate states of America as its own country. The slaves were not, in fact, freed by the Emancipation Proclamation. It was a political move on Lincoln's part to show his refusal to recognize the seceded confederate states by passing a proclamation that would have no effect on a seperate country.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Palm to face. Uhm, fin, ol' buddy ol' pal. What do you think?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My answer I am going to put (please correct me if I'm wrong) The Emancipation Proclamation was to send a message that President Lincoln was in control. All slaves were not freed after the Emancipation Proclamation, but it was to represent that Lincoln had no thought of the South being its own country. It gave hope to the North, and it was not used as a last resort to look foolish. Lincoln waited to draft it because if he did, it would seem as a last cry for help or pity.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It looks good! ^_^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why don't we look it up on Wikipedia? I need to refresh my memory about it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Should I turn that in? I have limited time to finish this last question. :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes you can. Or you can use mine :b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lawl, don't want to plagiarize any :P But thanks (:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

These lessons are important building blocks to help you to be ready for future assignments. It really has NOTHING to do with the Emancipation Proclamation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's ok CX

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Ashleyisakitty Have a problem. Please help.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What lessons?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@GirlByte Nope. It's not okay.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh my god. I said it was ok if @Kfins99 took my view of the Emancipation Proclamation...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@GirlByte The one Fin is referring to with this comment: "Should I turn that in? I have limited time to finish this last question. :/"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes it's ok. thereis nothing wrong with it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you all! I am going to read the EP before I go to bed. My test is still grading (: Gonna read it to better understand it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, come on Fin.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Kfins99 Fin, really. You need to study the speech, and not just read it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok . If you think its wrong, why don't you make one? @DonaldRoyMiller

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So look at both the speech and read it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@GirlByte I have absolutely NO intention of doing Fins' homework. I'll help with the study, though.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Fin, we've talked before. you dont remember me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I already turned my work in, I was just thinking reading/watching parts of the EP

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I was hoping we could go over the process of how we need to study a document.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What do you mean?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@DonaldRoyMiller What are you stressing over about? The important thing is @Kfins99 know what Emancipation Proclamation is.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I mean as I mentioned earlier in the discussion that this ISN'T about the Emancipation Proclamation so much as it is about you becoming prepared for your future assignments, writing essays, research papers, etc. You're being prepared for that by doing this.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Kfins99 Know what I mean. Fin? May I call you "Fin?"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, call me anything (: Also I do know what you mean a little, but what are we going to do that will help me become more prepared? (I'm going to post this in a new thread)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We can study the process of research. What grade are you in? That will help me know how to help you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can study it also, because I need to brush up on this stuff. I'm rusty.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

By "stuff" I mean researching a topic for an assignment or an essay.
