1.The navigator has to program the ship’s computer so that it will be prepared to intercept the satellite. To program it, the satelite’s path is set equal to the ship’s. The programmed equation is –4x – 2 = –x + 3. Explain to the navigator how the programmed equation can be graphed to find the point of intersection. Use complete sentences.

At first, you need to graph the equation, so you would have to rearrange this equation into a slope intercept formula. To do that I added x to both sides and added 2 both sides both to eliminate the "x". Next I divided both sides by the "x" 's coefficient or by "-3" to solve for x, so it came out to be x equals to negative five over three. The equation without the "y" in means that the line is vertical, and knowing that "x" is equal to negative five over three I graphed a strait line on the "negative five over three"-x-axis. I don't see the intersection though, it is just a vertical line.
