Which of the following are arithmetic sequences? 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, ... 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, ... 2, 6, 18, 54, ... 100, 230, 360, 490, ...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

arithmetic sequences have common differences between the terms called 'd' d= 2nd term - 1st term = 3rd term -2nd term = 4th term - 3rd term =.... and so on

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so for which of these series, the difference between the terms is same ????????????? that will be the arithmetic sequence :)

so it would just be the last one?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, so an arithmetic sequence has to do with either addition or subtraction. Geometric sequences deal with multiplication and division. So, in this case from what we know the 1st increases by 1 each time and the last one increases by 130. Therefore; these are the arithmetic sequences you are looking for. Now on sequence 2, there is a bit of a debate, you could say it is arithmetic by adding 0, but I believe it is going to be geometric by the identity property x*1=x. Good Luck!

Thanks :)
