And you have no given value for theta, the angle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can help but i need theta

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No angle theta is given I believe you have to solve for that as well in the second part of the question

I see

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya, could you tell the steps you would have taken ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sure, the problem is simple really. One way is just do a force balance (using FBD) and this will put P in terms of all knowns, except theta. From there you can use geometry and the given lengths/diameter to find dP/dtheta.which will be in terms of sin/cosigns. This yields a tangent. So you will get something like tan(theta)=(value/value) and this will give you theta. From there you can simply plug theta into the force balance to get P. I would do this all step by step for you, but i do not have access to any scratch paper, calculator, etc at the moment......

@chemENGINEER I solved the angle to be 42 degrees
