Also, another explanation in further details is.. Radioactive decay, like the decay of a carbon isotope or uranium isotope, are very important. Radioactive decay of carbon is the method used for carbon dating. That is how we can justify that the world is millions or billions of years old. Also, knowing the rate of decay of uranium and other radioactive isotopes like cesium can help us determine how long it takes for the uranium or cesium to not be harmful to people. This is especially important in nuclear energy where uranium undergoes fusion(or fission, i forgot) and without knowing how long it takes to decay, can be harmful to the world.
