i will give medal hellllpppp and a fan select a graph of the solution. {x | x > 4} U {x | x < -2} https://media.glynlyon.com/g_alg01_2013/4/numline15.gif https://media.glynlyon.com/g_alg01_2013/4/numline17.gif https://media.glynlyon.com/g_alg01_2013/4/numline16.gif

@MathLegend

OpenStudy (mathlegend):

Which graph(s) show that X is Greater than 4

OpenStudy (mathlegend):

15, 16, or 17?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the 3rd one

OpenStudy (mathlegend):

Good

OpenStudy (anonymous):

16

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so is that the answer

OpenStudy (mathlegend):

Okay no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you just have to read it. in one of them there is no 4 immediately cancel that one out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok

OpenStudy (mathlegend):

First note that we are talking about 4 and -2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if x is more then fore that means the line will go in th direction of numbers larger then 4 if x is less than -2 it will go towards numbers less than 2

OpenStudy (mathlegend):

So there should a circle above both of those numbers

OpenStudy (mathlegend):

Being with that said which Number Line can you eliminate?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

15? o..o

OpenStudy (mathlegend):

For 15... do you see a circle above -2 and a cirlce above 4? Yes or No?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh the url number haha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the first one has the num 15 in the url @cantthink96

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i saw it, okay so what he's saying is if it does not have a circle over a 1 and a circle over a 4 it is eliminated. well what we're saying

OpenStudy (mathlegend):

So does it @Cweezie23 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes #16 dose not though

OpenStudy (mathlegend):

So since 16 does not... we need to eliminate it. Why? Well because they are concerned with different numbers.

OpenStudy (mathlegend):

We are down to 15 and 17...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (mathlegend):

Which one shows X is greater than 4... Meaning numbers 5, 6, 7, etc...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

17

OpenStudy (mathlegend):

Great! You are quite intelligent. All you need to do is take your time. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's it! it's really simple if you start reading it out loud to yourself!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i used to struggle with these too.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you both hey @cantthink96

OpenStudy (anonymous):

imma post another Q? would you help if i link you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

depends on the question.
