OpenStudy (xmoses1):

Solve |x|>5 {-5, 5} {x|-5< x< 5} {x|x< -5 or x> 5}

OpenStudy (xmoses1):

@SACAPUNTAS do you know this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You know what |x| means, right?

OpenStudy (xmoses1):

Its absolute value right?

OpenStudy (xmoses1):

As in x= -x or x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Correct. So that essentially means x > 5, ignoring the sign.

OpenStudy (xmoses1):

oh ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You can also think of it as \[x > 5 \\ -x > 5\] And to solve the second one, you have to reverse the inequality because you're dividing by a negative. \[x > 5 \\ x < -5\]

OpenStudy (xmoses1):

Ok thats what i was trying to say. I got that so far

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then you have the answer. :D

OpenStudy (xmoses1):

Thanks:) your really helpful
