The volume of a cube is 512 cm3. What would change if the volume of the cube were measured in cubic meters? A. The volume of the prism would decrease. B. The volume of the prism would increase. C. The number of cubic units would increase. D. The number of cubic units would decrease.

OpenStudy (ddcamp):

If you're changing the tool you measure with, does that change the actual value? For example, if I measured a piece of string in centimeters then in inches, would the actual length of the string change?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i'm confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@agent0smith can you help

OpenStudy (ddcamp):

It's the same string, so the only thing that changes is the units used to describe it. The same thing happens with the cube. The actual volume doesn't change, just the units.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so D.

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

A cubic metre is much bigger than a cubic cm. So 512cm^3 converted to cubic metres will be a much smaller number.

As one of the new rollercoaster engineers, you have been tasked with developing a rollercoaster that will intertwine with existing Oakville Lake Amusement Park structures. For one of the more thrilling sections, the rollercoaster will dive down in-between buildings, plummet underground, pop back up, and coast over a hill before shooting back underground. There must be three distinct points where the rollercoaster crosses the x–axis. Precise measurements and attention to detail are very important. First, here is the existing map of current structures. It is important that the rollercoaster does not go through the foundation of any of these structures. Pick three points on the x–axis that the rollercoaster will dive underground or resurface. (Points that have a building on them are off-limits.) 1.The rollercoaster will run from right to left, so work in that order when selecting points. •1st point:______ •2nd point:______ •3rd point:______ 2.Using those points as zeros, construct the polynomial function, f(x), that will be the path of your rollercoaster. Show all of your work. 3.Using two of the theorems dicussed in the lesson, prove to the construction foreman that your function matches your graph. Use complete sentences. 4.Solve for the y–intercept for your function, f(x), and then construct a rough graph of your rollercoaster. If your y–intercept is off the graph, give the coordinates of the y–intercept. 5.Two competing engineers have offered their solutions for the function. One has suggested g(x) = x3 – 2x2 + 4x – 8, and the other has suggested h(x) = x3 + 5x2 – 8x – 48. Explain to the C.E.O. of Oaville Lake Amusement Park why these other suggestions are invalid. Use complete sentences.

A prism has a surface area of 50 mm2. Which sentence describes the effect of measuring the surface area in square centimeters? A. The surface area stays the same, but the number representing the surface area increases. B. The surface area stays the same, but the number representing the surface area decreases. C. The surface area increases. D. The surface area decreases.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C. The surface area increases.

82.365% sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

anymore @angel12310

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i got a 40%

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cause of me :((((((((( cause im pretty sure mine were right! :(((((((((((((((((((

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

For this, D is correct The volume of a cube is 512 cm3. What would change if the volume of the cube were measured in cubic meters? D. The number of cubic units would decrease. since 512 cm^3 is 512/(100^3) m^3
