OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the midpoint of the line segment with endpoints (-1,7) and (3,-3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The midpoint is just the average of the endpoint coordinates. So to find the coordinates (x,y) of the midpoint, just find the average of the two x-coordinate endpoints; and the average of the two y-coordinate endpoints.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

use y2-y1/x2-x1 to get midpoint

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ayesha05 That is NOT the midpoint formula. That is the formula for the slope between two points.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i honestly dont know how to answer this what so ever the answer would be nice lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know how to find the average of two numbers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To find the average of two numbers, add the two numbers and then divide by 2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is a timed quiz

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You must answer the question. Whats the big deal in finding the average of two numbers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i am sorry for having placed the wrong formula

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the midpoint formula i use is x2+x1 all over 2. to find your x-co-ordinate and y2+y1 all over 2 to get your y coordinate of your midpoint. \[\frac{ x2+x1 }{ 2 }\] and \[\frac{ y2+y1 }{ 2 }\]
