Do I shade above or below on these inequalities ? 1. y > 4/7 + 4 ((Point: 4,7)) 2. y > -7/3 - 7 ((Point: -7,3))

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is there a x component?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What do you mean?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How am I suppose to know when it's a dotted line or a straight line? and how Do I know when i'm suppose to shade up or down

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

Well there's probably an x missing in your inequalities. It should be sth like : y > 4/7 x +4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dotted means its only greater or smaller, the straight line means its greater than or equal to, OR smaller than or equal to.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its dotted when there is not a line under the sign

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't have an X

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

|dw:1384109617663:dw| If there's no X it should be sth like that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How would I write an equation for the inequlaties? like to solve it

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

You write y = 4/7 + 4

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

if its less then, you shade below the line and if it is greater then, you shade above the line

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

use a dotted line if there is no equal sign use a solid line if there is an equal sign

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, but I need a full problem. like, this -3y - 8x <9 +8 +8 -------------- -3y < 8x + 9 --- ------ -3 -3 y> -8/3 - 1 idk, how to get the other inequalities in a problem like that.

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

-3y - 8x < 9 (add 8x to both sides) -3y < 8x + 9 (divide both sides by -3) y < -8/3x - 3

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

oops...I forgot to change the sign y > -8/3x - 3 shading would be above the line because it is greater then

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I need the other problems up there ^^^^^^^^ not the one I just did

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

there should be x's in those problems....is there ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no.... idk how to get the x's

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that other problem (^^) doesn't have an x

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

are those the original problems ? Did you do anything to them or is that exactly how they are written ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's just what I got off of the graph I made. like, It was a triangle in a graph and the one problem that I just did was one I made up then got the one point. but the other 2 are the other points in the triangle. I got the problem by doing that whole up and over thing.

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

y < 4/7 + 4 y < 4/7 + 28/4 y < 32/4 y < 8 ???? sorry...I do not know :(

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

oops...> greater then if it is greater then, shading goes above the line
