Inequalities help? 1. x – 3 > –9 2. –2x + 1 ≤ –11 3. 10 < –3x + 1 4. 2(x + 5) > 8x – 8 5. –2(x – 3) ≥ 5 – (x + 3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1. you have to add 3 to both sides to get x alone. and -9+3 is -6 so it's x>-6

OpenStudy (accidentalaichan):

Okay, so for number two, If I subtracted one from both sides, it would be -2x < -12?

OpenStudy (accidentalaichan):

I'm trying to apply the same terms.

OpenStudy (accidentalaichan):

Thank you, this is what I needed.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2. You have to subtract 1 from the -11. So you'd get -2x≥-12 (since you are now dividing by a negative my teacher told us to switch the sign around) You divide by -2 and get x≥6
