How did gas warfare change the face of combat during World War I? Soldiers had to wear special masks to protect themselves. It replaced the use of air raids and machine guns in battle. It led to mass military desertions on the battlefields. Chemicals such as mustard gas replaced trench warfare.

Chemicals such as mustard gas replaced trench warfare.

And many of the other options also, but this foremost.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah thought it was a but d is a little more accurate

OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

All forms of battle were still being used concurrently: trench warfare, machine guns, bombers, etc. The way wars were fought back then was using trench warfare, which means it would be almost impossible to leave the battlefield without deserting the battle. Chemical warfare was also dangerous because sometimes the wind would shift and countries were accidentally gassing out their own soldiers.
