Anyone who knows Romeo and Juliet well please help me!!! i have these questions and i have no clue. Romeo begins this scene in Mantua, where he has been exiled, in expressing his lightheartedness over a dream of love he has had. Why is Romeo’s belief that he will be revived form death with a kiss from Juliet worrisome? Why was Friar John prevented from taking Friar Laurence’s letter of explanation to Romeo? Is the Romeo of the final scenes like the Romeo of old or has he matured as Juliet has? How does Romeo respond to other people in act V? What view of love and death does Romeo
The plague prevented Friar John, I think he has matured
1) It is worrisome because it foreshadows what is going to happen, except for the fact that Juliet will not awaken Romeo with the kiss, she will kiss him and then kill herself too. We know this because it is mentioned in the prologue. It also creates Dramatic Irony because the readers know something the character does not. 2) Friar John was prevented from delivering the messaged because he was stowed away in a house because it was believed he had the plague. 3) Romeo doesn’t seem matue that much in the course of the play, however he changes. He does show restraint when Tybalt challenges him, which is a big deal, since Romeo damages his reputation when he refuses to fight. But Romeo is just as emotional at the end as at the beginning. He starts loving Juliet instead of Rosaline, He goes from sad, to happy to scared(gets scared when he kills Tybalt). Romeo isn't loyal to his friends anymore because he blows them off for Juliet, in the beginning he would not do that. 4) Romeo responds to other people in Act 5 by making them feel bad. He tells the apothecary they need his money to stay in business. He's rude. 5) Romeo thinks of love as a burden. Romeo thinks death is an escape from pain and heartbreak.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
