What happens if someone is given the wrong type of blood in a blood transfusion?
You could possible die..
the antibodies in the transfused blood react with the antigens in the person's blood. This can cause agglutination which is red blood cells clumping together and inhibiting blood flow. It can also cause hemolysis which is the destruction or breakdown of red blood cells for example: if someone with type A blood receives type B, then the A antibodies in the B blood will react with the A antigens in the A blood also, if someone with Rh negative blood receives Rh positive blood, then the person could produce Rh antibodies which don't occur naturally. Then, if the person receives another transfusion of Rh positive blood, the antibodies in them will react with the transfused blood resulting in hemolysis.
Holy crap that's a good answer
