OpenStudy (broskishelleh):

Simplify the expression 3a (12 – 8) + 2 ( 3 + 12a)

OpenStudy (shamil98):

3a ( 12 - 8 ) + 2 ( 3 + 12 a) you can simplify what is in the parentheses of (12-8) so that is your first step. this becomes 3a(4) + 2(3+12a) From there you distribute the 2 to the values in (3+12a) , distribution is simply multiplying to each term. and multiply the 3 from 3a to the 4. you have. 12a + 2(3) + 2(12a) multiply 12a + 6 + 24 a then just combine the like terms.

Thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you simply need to distribute the numbers outside your parenthesis into the numbers inside so 3a(12-8) would be 36a-24a (U multiply number outside with number inside parenthesis) and 2(3+12a) would be 6+24a when you put them together you get 36a-24a+6+24a so you then combine like terms giving you 36a+6 since -24a and 24a cancel
