what is the domain and range for y=sqrt(4-x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

domain (-inf,4] range all real numbers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

could you explain plz ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for a ssqr function you cant put in anything that would cause it to be negative so anything over 4 will make it negative under the root like 5. 4-5 equal -1 which is bad

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm thnx got it :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to find the range you can find the inverse of the function and then find the domain of the nverse function

OpenStudy (ranga):

y=sqrt(4-x) Can't take square root of a negative and therefore 4-x >= 0 x <= 4 Domain: (-infinity, 4] Put those ends of the domain into f(x) and you find the range to be: +infinity to 0 Range: [0, infinity)
