If(x)=4x and g(x)=3x-2, find f(x) + g(x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is just using the equations provided to addbecause if f(x)+(g(x)) them so is the 4x +3x-2 what ever it gives you is the answer

OpenStudy (owlcoffee):

Now, we want to sum two polynomial functions: \[f:f(x)=4x \] \[g:g(x)=3x-2\] So we can say that: \[(f+g)(x) = (4x)+(3x-2)\] in order to solve this, we must operate the terms with a similar variable, with that i mean the numbers that have an x on their side: \[(f+g)(x)= 7x-2\] and that's the way to do a sum of functions.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

I though that you just add them
