Someone help me? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which function is shown on the graph below? a. y= √2x-6-1 b. y= √2x+6+1 c. y= √2x-6+1 d. y= √2x+6-1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sub x = 3,5 and 11, you are able to get the function.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So like 2x3+6-1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im sorry i dont understand..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What I meant is take each function sub the value in. Example :x=3 ; sqrt(2(3)-6+1) and x=5 ; sqroot(2(5)-6+1 etcc. Use the answer you got and match with the graph shown.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hope u understand what I meant this time. ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How was it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont :(

OpenStudy (ranga):

In your answer choices, does the square root cover the entire expression or just the 2x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It covers the first two numbers. Not the last one. Thats why i had a problem with this question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Omg sqroot the whole expression my fault

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh no its okay! i must not have explained it right.

OpenStudy (ranga):

As Thomas pointed out, from the graph we can get three good points: (3,1) ; (5,3) and (11,5) Sub x = 3, 5 and 11 and see which choice gives you 1, 3 and 5 respectively.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thats the part i dont understand to well.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How can I post a photo here?

Attach file at the bottom

OpenStudy (ranga):

We want to find the curve that has the points (3,1) ; (5,3) and (11,5) Try choice a) y= √(2x-6) - 1 put x = 3, y = sqrt(2*3 - 6) - 1 = -1 This is not it. We want y=1 when x=3 Try choice b), c) and d) like that for all three points.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

K nvm I do it here ; As what Ranga mentioned we need to find a good point to use it as our value for sub; X = 3 , 5 and 11 is a good to find the function. Example : x=3; sqroot (2 (3) - 6 ) + 1= 1 X=5 ; sqroot ( 2(5) - 6) + 1= 3 etc. Try do x = 11.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got the answer D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nope. If u use d, sub x. = 3 the answer you got 2.4 and your graph shown that when. X=3 is less than 2. Therefore is wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry I using iPad so there may be some typo error

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how was it? did you get the answer?
