The x intercept of a line is 4. The y intercept of the same line is -2. What is the slope of the line?

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

the x-intercept is when y is zero so if the x-intercept is 4 then you get the point (4, 0) the y-intercept is when x is zero so if the y-intercept is -2 then you get the point (0, -2) then to find slope... \[slope = \frac{ rise }{ run } = \frac{ y _{2}-y _{1} }{ x _{2}-x _{1} }\] when given the points (x1, y1) and (x2, y2) so plug in x1 = 4 , y1 = 0 , x2 = 0 , y2 = -2 and simplify :)
