1+tan^2x/csc^2x=tan^2x Please help !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Hero ???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Step 1: change 1 + tan^2(x) into sec^2(x) it is a Pythagorean identity.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thats how far i got.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Step 2: Change the right side: tan^2(x) = sin^2(x)/cos^2(x) Are you with me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

On the left side, change sec^2(x) into 1/cos^2(x) and change csc^2(x) into 1/sin^2(x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the left side is just 1/cos^2(x) divided by 1/sin^2(x) which is just sin^2(x)/cos^2(x) which is equal to the right side which is sin^2(x)/cos^2(x). Done.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@zaragoza96 Do you understand every step?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so why is it flipped, what is canceled out in order to have sin on top ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

When you divide, you flip

OpenStudy (anonymous):

watch.........

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That was very helpful, Thank you so much !
