Sergio is asked to write one million in scientific notation. He writes 10 6 and gets it wrong. Why was he wrong? He should have written 10 5. He should have written 1 × 10 5. He should have written 10 6. He should have written 1 × 10 6.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[1.0 \times10^{6}\] is the correct way because he is moving the decimal point 6 places to the right side of one

I forgot the correct explanation of why it is my solution but check out youtube videos on scientific notations okay.

\[1\times 10^6\] Because 10^6 is a million BUT in scientific notation there is usually 2 parts. So you times it by 1 which gives you a million.
