Write an inequality for the given statement: The sum of twice a number and 12 is no more than 24.

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

so i believe this is saying 2n + 12 = 26.

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

try plugging in 6 to this equation... 2 x 6 + 12 = 24? is this equation right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's not one of the options.

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

No. @undeadknight27 you are partially incorrect. \[2n+12\le24\]

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

oh lol...i forgot the sign...

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

You know this because it says "no greater than 24"

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

@bwright12 You also know that it is "2n" because it is "twice a number". So basically, the unknown number, n, is being multiplied by two. And the sum means addition. And "is" usually means =.
