some changes were good like wood to coal and machinery for working in the fields and some were bad like factory's took a lot of buisness away from the farms i hope this is of some help :)
Oh my.
Well let me write you an essay that ties together what swami said. >.>
Well, in the 1800s the majority of the American population was some sort of farmer, whether it was to survive and feed their families or to make whatever money they could. The fastest way to travel was by horse, and not to hate on horses but they're pretty slow. Then came the steam engine. Now goods could travel along waterways faster than on land (with the slow horses.) This was one of the most important developments that caused industrialization, in that it caused people to say "hey, yeah, that works." Because industrialization is the introduction of technology to things that were, before that time, pretty much the same thing every year. This technology would make things easier for farmers. It wasn't much, but overfarming still caused infertility regardless of technology. So, as time went on, the farmland can only be planted and harvested so often before it became infertile and them and their families began to starve. As farmers had a harder and harder time getting their crops to grow, they came to the realization that they couldn't support their families like that forever. So they sought jobs in the newly industrialized cities, where businessmen needed people to work for them in their factories. In their off time, they still worked the farm. But not as much as they did before. When these farmers went to get jobs in cities, this brought popularity to the idea of living in a city where you could go out and by things that you need, like food, whereas before what you harvested was what your family ate. If you had a bad farming year, you were screwed. You would starve. So now they could go out to a store and purchase food, and this was easier for them. Basically, in a more shortened form, it made farming easier, but it couldn't do everything for the farmers. It couldn't stop bad harvests. So they went to get jobs in cities, and because of this there were advances in industrialization due to the fact that more people were getting involved and working in cities.
