Sorry, this is probably a stupid question. But... "Some student in PE exercise 6 out of 14 days. What percentage is this?" So I divide 6 by 14, right? And then I move the decimal over 2 spaces? I can't remember. x.x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep. 42.8%

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, divide the numerator by the denominator. Then move the decimal two places to the right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks. It seems like I forget most things involving math. :l

No problem, just ask and I'll try to help out.

How do I write something in scientific notation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Say you have a number like 1200. To make it scientific notation, you move the decimal so that the resulting number is greater than 1 and less than 10. In our example, we know that 1200 is really 1200.00 so we move the decimal 3 places to the left, that way it will be greater than one. (1.2) Then we count how many times we moved the decimal (3) And write that as 10^3 Final Answer: 1.2 * 10^3
