Explain how perpendicular lines can be used to construct a line parallel to a given line.

same slope and different y intercept.

To put it into words I can say, draw two lines with the same slope but a different y intercept?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, can you explain how I could put it into words?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1. From the both ends of the perpendicular segment two curves (or whatever these compass marks are called) drawn both are equal distant from the ends, through which the line is drawn. I am bad at explaining, but if you see what I did you should be able to put it into words

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, thank you.

IMagine we have to make a line parallel to line given using perpendicular line, First we draw perpendicular from the given line and find its slope, and then we make a line of slope equal to -1/m , where m is the slope of perpendicular
