Solve the inequality -5(x-7)<15 algebraically for x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-5(x-7)<15 Distribute -5x+35<15 Subtract both sides by 35 -5x<-20 divide both sides by -5 x = 4

Does that help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oops i forgot a part. -5x < -20 divide both sides by -5, since we are dividing by a negitive we change the sign from < to >. so x > 4 @Hero Yeah, I noticed that right as a posted

hero (hero):

-5(x-7)<15 add 5(x - 7) to both sides: 0 < 15 + 5(x - 7) Subtract -15 from both sides -15 < 5(x - 7) -15 < 5x - 35 Add 35 to both sides 35 - 15 < 5x 20 < 5x Divide both sides by 5 20/5 < x 4 < x which is the same as x > 4
