Hi, I have Python 3.3.3, I was trying to run the problem set ps2_hangman.py. It shows "invalid syntax", please help!
MIT 6.00 is done using Python 2. Some of the language's syntax was changed for Python 3. The simplest thing to do would be to download Python 2 and use it instead. I believe the latest version is Python 2.7.6.
IF you're unable to download 2.7 due to system incompatiblity like mine WAS (windows vista), you can still use py 3.3, it will just be a little bit harder to figure out and work with....my vista wouldnt boot up anymore so I went to Linux 12.10 version, that has 2.7 py automatically available to install under the Ubuntu Software Center that is available on with Linux software, or some other type of Linux software....This is posted by my own experiences, nothing is guaranteed!
I am taking that course right now, MIT is using 2.7. What operating system are you using?
@JonathanMarshall Which 2.7 did you try in Vista? There are people running both the 32 and 64 bit versions side by side on Vista, so it is not a simple OS incompatibility.
e.mccormick: sorry for the late response, i ask for your forgiveness. I am using IDLE 2.7 on linux now, as my vista quit booting up so I switched OS by reformatting my computer. I also downloaded WINE to run certain windows program that i have installed on my computer.
32 bit
Well, then you should have completely different results at this point.
