OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

Is there a way to manually solve for \(\beta_0\) in this equation: \[4e^{\beta_0}\sum_{i=1}^{25}\frac{e^{\beta_1 x_{i1}}}{4\phi e^{\beta_0+\beta_1 x_{i1}}+1}=0\]

OpenStudy (ikram002p):

one of the solution i guss 4e^bata0=0 mmm but that lead u to infinite so convert the sum to limit.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't think the left side will ever take on 0, regardless of what values you put in.

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

yup ! so we need to mess wid the sum and see if we can change it to a nice limit so xi's are not known is it ?

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

the xi is an indicator variable

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

Yeah this this is weird I think I have to re-derive my result >_> (This is a sub-result from a larger problem).

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

Hm yes I definitely missed a term. Thanks for pointing it out

OpenStudy (ikram002p):

ok wat is the hole prob ??

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

Oh gosh the whole problem was trying to maximize the log-likelihood of some Poisson-Gamma distribution mixture
