Here i will give metal, become fan, and I will wright something The two men who come to collect for charities discuss "the poor and destitute who suffer greatly at the present time. Many thousands are in want of common necessaries; hundreds of thousands are in want of common comforts." The men are collecting for those people who are physically poor--people who do not have what they need for everyday living. Are there other kinds of poverty besides not having money? What are they? ____________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok here is another The men want a collection from Scrooge. What does he have to give? Will he give it? Why or why not

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do u know the answer to this one?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the men in the beginning of the book who were asking for a donation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am not sure i typed what was on my paper

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Scrooge asks if there are not prisons, workhouses, and government programs in place to aid the poor. Scrooge believes that he does his part by contributing to those institutions. The collectors insist that many of the poor do not have access to that form of aid and many others are so proud that they would rather die than receive help that way. Scrooge answers with, "'If they would rather die, . . . they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population.'"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am sorry I am needing to know why they gave it what they gave and why I have 3 lines to put it on so please be short I am so bossy sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay hmm well the two men (collectors) asked Scrooge for a donation to the poor. Scrooge is such a miser he insists on saving money. When the collectors asked for a donation from him, Scrooge refused to donate because that meant loosing money.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here is a question You’ve thought about why Scrooge isn’t giving and what his lack of charity says about his kind of poverty. Now think about the other ways in which the author shows us how Scrooge is lacking. Read the following quotation and consider what it tells you about Scrooge. how is clerk warmer than scrooge?
