Ok let me ask you, if you were told a car travelled 5 meters/second, and you were told that the car had been travelling for one second, how many meters did the car travel? (the way you do this is exactly how you do the problem above, just different numbers/units)

Basically the way you do a lot of chemistry is a method called dimensional analysis. At least that's what my teacher calls it. You basically look at a unit, for example meters/second, and think about how it relates to the single units its composed of. If you wanted meters you would multiply by seconds, because it would cancel out.
