what is your question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

does someone know ?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

In indirect proof we always start wid opposite of wat we want to prove

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

here, you want to prove \(\text{their sum is odd}\) wats the opposite of that statement ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if two whole numbers are odd then the sum is odd?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the two numbers arent equal

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

I think from what ganeshie said, whats the opposite of their sum being odd? their sum not being odd

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its saying two whole number (any numbers) with a sum is odd. Let's say 7 + 4 for example. Both 7 and 4 are whole number and the sum is odd. & and 4 are not equal numbers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh I get

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i missed the part wher the whole numbers are even

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

you are pretty opposite of above statement wud be :- you are NOT pretty

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there is never two even number that have a sum that's odd. So the numbers aren't equal

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh lol

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

when doing proofs, we need to take statements literally sometimes :) the answer here is C

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

Cuz, statement : their sum is odd opposite of that statement wud be : their sum is NOT odd

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

it doesnt matter wat u want to prove is a legit thing or not. when u want to prove it using indirect proof, u always start wid OPPOSITE of wat u want to prove, and look for contradictions.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is more confusing than i thought
