write an equation of the line with slope -5 and containing A(3,-1)

OpenStudy (yttrium):

Be reminded of the point-slope form. \[y-y _{1} = m(x-x _{1})\]

OpenStudy (nikato):

or the slope intercept form \[y=mx+b\]

OpenStudy (yttrium):

@nikato , at this time point-slope form is the best to use. Since the given is slope and a point A. There's no given intercept.

OpenStudy (nikato):

oh, and btw @Yttrium ,how do u make those subscripts^ and well, u can actually from the intercept with what ur given nd just plug the slop and intercept only

OpenStudy (yttrium):

Well, I am after with the simplest solution possible. It's true that we can also use the slope -intercept form. But the best in this situation to use is the point-slope form. The subscripts are found where the powers can be found. Just look for "exponents and dervative" button in the equation button. :3
