Yesterday, Asher ran 2 miles in twenty-one minutes. Today, he ran 3 miles in thirty minutes. The function that describes the relationship between the number of miles he ran and the time he ran is a linear function. How long will he run tomorrow if he runs 4 miles? Explain.

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

it is a linear function, therefore the amount of time it takes between 2 to 3 miles would be the same as going to 3 to 4 miles 30 - 21 = 7 so he ran from 2 miles to 3 miles in 7 minutes therefore running from 3 miles to 4 miles should also take 7 minutes and since it already took 30 minutes to run 3 miles to run 4 miles would take (30+7)minutes
