OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer is y=-2...wanna see how -1/5y=10 5y=10(-1) y=-10/5 y=-2

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

@faizah are you sure it hadn't meant -1/5 y = 10 rather then (-1)/(5y) = 10 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it says -1 is divided to 5y it is an equation problem so oviously -1 gets multiplied by 10 then u do the rest

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

usually when such a problem is phrased like that, they mean -(1/5)y = 10 and even if you do multiply both sides by -1 to get rid of the negative, you would still be left with 1/(5y) on the left side which is not applicable

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

rosegold the correct answer should be y = 10 times negative 5 = -50 (<---)

ohk...thnx i didnt know about that
