Can anyone explain the difference between an event and apparent horizon surrounding a black hole?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know that event horizon is until where events take place, ergo, laws of physics as we know, still holds good, and u can technically still escape from there. But once past the event horizon, escape speed is more than that of light, and therefore point of no return.. lemme google what apparent horizon is!

ok.. now i get what u mean :D.. i don't understand it either.. sorry!! it must have something to do with the observer.. but event horizon is sort of independent of observer!

yeah! It's a bit confusing, it's for my thesis, an I've been writing about the event horizon instead of the apparent horizon, and now I'm confused haha! but thanks anyway :)
