HELP! ANSWER and EXPLAIN! In which excerpt from John Donne's "A Valediction: Forbidding Mourning" does the speaker tell his wife why she should keep his departure a secret? "...Thy firmness makes my circle just, /And makes me end where I begun." "...A breach, but an expansion,/Like gold to airy thinness beat." "...But trepidation of the spheres,/Though greater far, is innocent." "...Twere profanation of our joys/To tell the laity our love." @fbi2015, You have to study John Donne's complete list of works, the intention behind his poems and understand the historical, social and political contexts of each of his works in order to gain a whole-listic understanding of his poems. If I were you, I would start by reading these links: http://www.sparknotes.com/poetry/donne/analysis.html http://www.sparknotes.com/poetry/donne/themes.html That site also has links to his poems and does an analysis of each one. Read all of them. Also try to find a biography describing his life and his literature. Good luck.
